In 14 years the United Kingdom will phase out fossil fuels

By the end of this week, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will officially announce at the annual conference of the Conservative Party in Manchester that from 2035 the country will receive all electricity from renewable sources, the Times reports. This news did not please all environmentalists, since the government is not going to close nuclear power plants. "Wanting to reduce the country`s dependence on natural gas and other fossil fuels, Boris Johnson will announce this week that all of Britain`s electricity from 2035 will come from renewable sources," a source told. "During his speech, the Prime Minister will present his party`s plans for a significant increase in investments in renewable and nuclear energy, while Britain is experiencing a crisis caused by a jump in gas prices."

Record cold winter recorded in Antarctica

The coldest winter in the entire history of observations was recorded at the South Pole. The average temperature for June - August turned out to be -62.8°, this is a record low since 1957, when observations began there. The average in September at the South Pole was -61.1°C. The new record updated the value of 1976. According to Matthew Lazare, a researcher from the University of Wisconsin, this winter the temperature at the station dropped to -74.3°C. It is also cold in other continental regions of Antarctica. On October 1, the temperature at the Vostok station dropped to -79.3°C, thus breaking the record for the lowest temperature in October. Antarctic station "Vostok" holds the world record for all time: -89.2 °C. The cooling trend dominates in East Antarctica and West Antarctica, while the warming trend is observed on the Antarctic Peninsula.

Warm weather is coming back to the United Kingdom

Londoners could be embracing the return of warmer weather with potential highs of 21C after a wet weekend. Forecasters said it would be a “week of two halves”; autumnal weather would continue over the next few days before the mercury begins to climb again from Wednesday. After a washout weekend, Monday will see widespread heavy showers throughout the day with some hail and a low-risk of thunder. And it will get worse before it gets better. Strong gales will batter the south-west England on Tuesday which could cause some localised flooding. Temperatures on Monday will reach around 16-17C before it drops to highs of 14C on Tuesday which is three degrees lower than the average for October.

Cyclone Shaheen hits Oman and killed three people

Tropical Cyclone Shaheen killed four people as it slammed into Oman on Sunday with ferocious winds and heavy rain, flooding streets, prompting evacuations from coastal areas and delaying flights to and from the capital, Muscat. As the cyclone approached, a child who had been swept away by water was found dead, the state news agency said, and another missing person was also found dead. Two Asian workers were killed when a hill collapsed on their housing area in an industrial zone, the state news agency reported. When its eye crossed land, the cyclone was carrying winds of between 120 and 150 km per hour (75-93 mph), Omani authorities said. It was throwing up waves of up to 10 metres.

Heavy flooding hits Italian Liguria

Heavy rains hit some valleys in the interior of Liguria, especially in the Savona area. So far, no casualties have been reported. Powerful floods began with the arrival of the first strong seasonal storm in Liguria, it was called Christians. Over the past few hours, a thunderstorm has broken out on the coast above Savona between Pietra Ligure and Loano. Meteorologists say it has "self-sustaining" properties: it constantly draws in warm and very humid air from the sea. This is leading to continued heavy rains, according to daswetter.com.
